GURU TEGH BAHADUR JI'S SHAHIDEE DIVAS CELEBRATIONS AT GURUDWARA RAKAB GANJ
This is the view of the Palki of GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI in the LAKHI SHAH VANJARA HALL
Main celebrations took place in the Lakhi Shah Vanjara hall which is adjacent to the Rakab Ganj Gurudwara.Most of the Gurupurab celebrations take place in this hall.Permanent structure has been erected for this purpose only.Earliers many years back Gurupurab celebrations used to be done in grounds putting up temporary shamiana/sheds.Lakhi Shah Vanjara was guru ka sikh who brought the body of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji to Rakab Ganj from Sis Ganj where guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was beheaded and cremated the body by setting fire to his hut.It is so appropriate that this hall has been named as LAKHI SHAH VANJARA HALL in the name of the BRAVE GURU KA SIKH.

TRIBUTE TO BHAI AVTAR SINGH JI
When I went to the Gurdwara Rakab Ganj on 25th Nov.2006 to attend the Kirtan Darbar on the occasion of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji ‘s martyrdom day, I got the news of the sad demise of Bhai Avtar Singh ji.I had been listening to his kirtan since my childhood. Bhai Sahib was one of the greatest Kirtaniyas of the Sikh Panth. His contribution to Raag Kirtan/Gurmat Sangeet was immense.
Bhai Kultar Singh ji son of Bhai Avtar Singh ji did kirtan on that day.Although Bhai Sahib ji were very sick but he had told his son that he must do kirtan on that day.Kirtan was awesome you can have the feeling as if Bhai Avtar Singh Ji himself was singing.It was a tribute of a son to his father.

ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ਮਾਂਝ ॥ (218-4)

ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
The Destroyer of sorrow is Your Name, Lord; the Destroyer of sorrow is Your

ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

That heart, in which the Supreme Lord God abides, is the most beautiful place.
ਜਮ ਕੰਕਰੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥1॥
The Messenger of Death does not even approach those who chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord with the tongue. 1
ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਣੀਆ ਨਾ ਜਾਪੈ ਆਰਾਧਿ ॥
I have not understood the wisdom of serving Him, nor have I worshipped Him in meditation.
ਓਟ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਗਜੀਵਨਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ॥2॥
You are my Support, O Life of the World; O my Lord and Master, Inaccessible and Incomprehensible. 2
ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈਆ ਨਠੇ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥
When the Lord of the Universe became merciful, sorrow and suffering departed.
ਤਤੀ ਵਾਉ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਰਖੇ ਆਪਿ ॥3॥The hot winds do not even touch those who are protected by the True Guru. 3Listen to this shabad by Bhai Dharam Singh Jakhmi ji
