The True Guru has revealed to me the Name of the Lord; without the Lord, I cannot live, for a moment, even an instant. ||1||Pause||
My ears hear the Lord's Kirtan, and I contemplate Him; without the Lord, I cannot live, even for an instant.
As the swan cannot live without the lake, how can the Lord's slave live without serving Him? ||1||
Some enshrine love for duality in their hearts, and some pledge love for worldly attachments and ego.
The Lord's servant embraces love for the Lord and the state of Nirvaanaa; Nanak contemplates the Lord, the Lord God. ||2||14||66||

The body-temple is sanctified by the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan,
and thus, the impregnable fort of the soul is conquered.

If I were to become a Siddha, and work miracles, summon wealth
and become invisible and visible at will, so that people would hold me in awe

If I were to become an emperor and raise a huge army, and sit on a throne,
issuing commands and collecting taxes-O Nanak, all of this could pass away like a puff of wind.

With intuitive peace and poise, the soul-bride is loved by her Husband Lord; her mind is pleased and appeased by the Guru's Teachings.
She is the happy soul-bride of her Husband Lord; her mind and body are filled with joy by His Love. ||2||

ਅਵਗਣ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਭਈ ਬੈਰਾਗਨਿ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਵਰੁ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ਹਰੀ ॥
ਸੋਗੁ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੀ ॥3॥
Discarding her demerits, she becomes detached; with the Lord as her Husband, her marriage is eternal.
She never suffers separation or sorrow; her Lord God showers her with His Grace. ||3||

ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਨਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ॥

Her mind is steady and stable; she does not come and go in reincarnation.

Such a man, in whose heart shines the full Divinely Radiant Light is a true a pure Khalsa.

Entangled and enmeshed in the love of false occupations, the whole world is perishing.

eikas har kae naam bin agai leeahi khohi
Without the Naam, the Name of the One Lord, they lose their lives in the hereafter.

ਦਯੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਵਿਗੁਚਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥

Forgetting the Merciful Lord, they are ruined. Without God, there is no other at all.

Pure is the reputation of those who are attached to the Feet of the Beloved Lord.

I celebrate the festival of Holi by serving the Saints.
ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਅਤਿ ਲਾਲ ਦੇਵ ॥੨॥

रंगु लागा अति लाल देव ॥२॥

Rang lāgā aṯ lāl ḏėv. 2

I am imbued with the deep crimson color of the Lord's Divine Love. 2
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਉਲਿਓ ਅਤਿ ਅਨੂਪ ॥

मनु तनु मउलिओ अति अनूप ॥

Man ṯan maulio aṯ anūp.

My mind and body have blossomed forth, in utter, incomparable beauty.
ਸੂਕੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਛਾਵ ਧੂਪ ॥

सूकै नाही छाव धूप ॥

Sūkai nāhī cẖẖāv ḏẖūp.

They do not dry out in either sunshine or shade;
ਸਗਲੀ ਰੂਤੀ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇ ॥

सगली रूती हरिआ होइ ॥

Saglī rūṯī hariā hoė. they flourish in all seasons.
ਸਦ ਬਸੰਤ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲੇ ਦੇਵ ॥੩॥

सद बसंत गुर मिले देव ॥३॥

Saḏ basanṯ gur milė ḏėv. 3

It is always springtime, when I meet with the Divine Guru. 3
ਬਿਰਖੁ ਜਮਿਓ ਹੈ ਪਾਰਜਾਤ ॥

बिरखु जमिओ है पारजात ॥

Birakẖ jamio hai pārjāṯ.

The wish-fulfilling Elysian Tree has sprouted and grown.
ਫੂਲ ਲਗੇ ਫਲ ਰਤਨ ਭਾਂਤਿ ॥

फूल लगे फल रतन भांति ॥

Fūl lagė fal raṯan bẖāŉṯ.

It bears flowers and fruits, jewels of all sorts.
ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਨੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣਹ ਗਾਇ ॥

त्रिपति अघाने हरि गुणह गाइ ॥

Ŧaripaṯ agẖānė har guṇah gāė.

I am satisfied and fulfilled, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੪॥੧॥

The wealth of this world is only a dream; why are you so proud of it?
ਸੰਗਿ ਤਿਹਾਰੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਚਾਲੈ ਤਾਹਿ ਕਹਾ ਲਪਟਾਨੋ ॥੧॥
संगि तिहारै कछू न चालै ताहि कहा लपटानो ॥१॥
Sang ṯihārai kacẖẖū na cẖālai ṯāhi kahā laptāno. 1
None of it shall go along with you in the end; why do you cling to it? 1
ਉਸਤਤਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਦੋਊ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਉਰਿ ਆਨੋ ॥
उसतति निंदा दोऊ परहरि हरि कीरति उरि आनो ॥
Usṯaṯ ninḏā ḏoū parhar har kīraṯ ur āno.
Leave behind both praise and slander; enshrine the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises within your heart.

They obtain love and devotion, and they do not burn in corruption.
ਕੂੜ ਗਏ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਨਸੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਚਿ ਭਰੇ ॥ (136-11, ਮਾਝ, ਮਃ 5)
Falsehood has vanished, duality has been erased, and they are totally overflowing with Truth.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੇਵਦੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਧਰੇ ॥ (136-11, ਮਾਝ, ਮਃ 5)

Each and every moment, your life is passing away, like water from a cracked pitcher. 1Pause
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਕਾਹਿ ਨ ਗਾਵਹੀ ਮੂਰਖ ਅਗਿਆਨਾ ॥

हरि गुन काहि न गावही मूरख अगिआना ॥

Har gun kāhi na gāvhī mūrakẖ agiānā.

Why do you not sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, you ignorant fool?
ਝੂਠੈ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਲਾਗਿ ਕੈ ਨਹਿ ਮਰਨੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥੧॥

झूठै लालचि लागि कै नहि मरनु पछाना ॥१॥

Jẖūṯẖai lālacẖ lāg kai neh maran pacẖẖānā. 1

You are attached to false greed, and you do not even consider death. 1 ਅਜਹੂ ਕਛੁ ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ਨਹੀ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ॥

अजहू कछु बिगरिओ नही जो प्रभ गुन गावै ॥

Ajhū kacẖẖ bigrio nahī jo parabẖ gun gāvai.

Even now, no harm has been done, if you will only sing God's Praises.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਭਜਨ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥੧॥

कहु नानक तिह भजन ते निरभै पदु पावै ॥२॥१॥

Kaho Nānak ṯih bẖajan ṯė nirbẖai paḏ pāvai. 21

Says Nanak, by meditating and vibrating upon Him, you shall obtain the state of fearlessness. 21

I hear the thunder in the clouds, and my mind is cooled and soothed; imbued with the Love of my Dear Beloved, I sing His Glorious Praises.

बरसु घना मेरा मनु भीना ॥

Baras gẖanā mėrā man bẖīnā.

The rain pours down, and my mind is drenched with His Love.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬੂੰਦ ਸੁਹਾਨੀ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੋਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਲੀਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

अम्रित बूंद सुहानी हीअरै गुरि मोही मनु हरि रसि लीना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Amriṯ būnḏ suhānī hīarai gur mohī man har ras līnā. 1 rahāo.

The drop of Ambrosial Nectar pleases my heart; the Guru has fascinated my mind, which is drenched in the sublime essence of the Lord.

Sahj sukẖī var kāmaṇ piārī jis gur bacẖnī man māniā.
With intuitive peace and poise, the soul-bride is loved by her Husband Lord; her mind is pleased and appeased by the Guru's Teachings.
ਹਰਿ ਵਰਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਭਈ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਸੁਖਾਨਿਆ ॥੨॥
हरि वरि नारि भई सोहागणि मनि तनि प्रेमु सुखानिआ ॥२॥
Har var nār bẖaī sohagaṇ man ṯan parėm sukẖāniā. 2
She is the happy soul-bride of her Husband Lord; her mind and body are filled with joy by His Love. 2
ਅਵਗਣ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਭਈ ਬੈਰਾਗਨਿ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਵਰੁ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ਹਰੀ ॥
अवगण तिआगि भई बैरागनि असथिरु वरु सोहागु हरी ॥
Avgaṇ ṯiāg bẖaī bairāgan asthir var sohāg harī.
Discarding her demerits, she becomes detached; with the Lord as her Husband, her marriage is eternal.
ਸੋਗੁ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੀ ॥੩॥
सोगु विजोगु तिसु कदे न विआपै हरि प्रभि अपणी किरपा करी ॥३॥
Sog vijog ṯis kaḏė na viāpai har parabẖ apṇī kirpā karī. 3
She never suffers separation or sorrow; her Lord God showers her with His Grace. 3
ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਨਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ॥
आवण जाणु नही मनु निहचलु पूरे गुर की ओट गही ॥
Āvaṇ jāṇ nahī man nihcẖal pūrė gur kī ot gahī.
Her mind is steady and stable; she does not come and go in reincarnation.
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਸਚੁ ਸਹੀ ॥੪॥੨॥
नानक राम नामु जपि गुरमुखि धनु सोहागणि सचु सही ॥४॥२॥
Nānak rām nām jap gurmukẖ ḏẖan sohagaṇ sacẖ sahī. 42
She takes the Shelter of the Perfect Guru. O Nanak, as Gurmukh, chant the Naam; you shall be accepted as the true soul-bride of the Lord

I am the shop-keeper of the Lord. Your Name is my merchandise and trade.

ਹਰਣੀ ਹੋਵਾ ਬਨਿ ਬਸਾ ਕੰਦ ਮੂਲ ਚੁਣਿ ਖਾਉ ॥

हरणी होवा बनि बसा कंद मूल चुणि खाउ ॥

Harṇī hovā ban basā kanḏ mūl cẖuṇ kẖāo.

What if I were to become a deer, and live in the forest, picking and eating fruits and roots -
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਹੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਾਰਿ ਵਾਰਿ ਹਉ ਜਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

गुर परसादी मेरा सहु मिलै वारि वारि हउ जाउ जीउ ॥१॥

Gur parsādī mėrā saho milai vār vār hao jāo jīo. 1

by Guru's Grace, I am a sacrifice to my Master. Again and again, I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice. 1

ਮੈ ਬਨਜਾਰਨਿ ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ॥

मै बनजारनि राम की ॥

Mai banjāran rām kī.

I am the shop-keeper of the Lord.
ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਰੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ਜੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

तेरा नामु वखरु वापारु जी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Ŧėrā nām vakẖar vāpār jī. 1 rahāo.

Your Name is my merchandise and trade. 1Pause

ਕੋਕਿਲ ਹੋਵਾ ਅੰਬਿ ਬਸਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਬਦ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥

कोकिल होवा अ्मबि बसा सहजि सबद बीचारु ॥

Kokil hovā amb basā sahj sabaḏ bīcẖār.

If I were to become a cuckoo, living in a mango tree, I would still contemplate the Word of the Shabad.
ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਹੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਦਰਸਨਿ ਰੂਪਿ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥੨॥

सहजि सुभाइ मेरा सहु मिलै दरसनि रूपि अपारु ॥२॥

Sahj subẖāė mėrā saho milai ḏarsan rūp apār. 2

I would still meet my Lord and Master, with intuitive ease; the Darshan, the Blessed Vision of His Form, is incomparably beautiful. 2

ਮਛੁਲੀ ਹੋਵਾ ਜਲਿ ਬਸਾ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਸਾਰਿ ॥

मछुली होवा जलि बसा जीअ जंत सभि सारि ॥

Macẖẖulī hovā jal basā jīa janṯ sabẖ sār.

If I were to become a fish, living in the water, I would still remember the Lord, who watches over all beings and creatures.

ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਹੁ ਵਸੈ ਹਉ ਮਿਲਉਗੀ ਬਾਹ ਪਸਾਰਿ ॥੩॥

उरवारि पारि मेरा सहु वसै हउ मिलउगी बाह पसारि ॥३॥

Urvār pār mėrā saho vasai hao milaugī bāh pasār. 3

My Husband Lord dwells on this shore, and on the shore beyond; I would still meet Him, and hug Him close in my embrace. 3
ਨਾਗਨਿ ਹੋਵਾ ਧਰ ਵਸਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਸੈ ਭਉ ਜਾਇ ॥

नागनि होवा धर वसा सबदु वसै भउ जाइ ॥

Nāgan hovā ḏẖar vasā sabaḏ vasai bẖao jāė.

If I were to become a snake, living in the ground, the Shabad would still dwell in my mind, and my fears would be dispelled.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਜਿਨ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੯॥

नानक सदा सोहागणी जिन जोती जोति समाइ ॥४॥२॥१९॥

Nānak saḏā sohāgaṇī jin joṯī joṯ samāė. 4219

O Nanak, they are forever the happy soul-brides, whose light merges into His Light.

At that time anyone helping the Sikhs faced death as punishment from the Mughal authorities.

ਚੇਤਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਅਰਾਧੀਐ ਹੋਵੈ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਘਣਾ ॥
चेति गोविंदु अराधीऐ होवै अनंदु घणा ॥
Cẖėṯ govinḏ arāḏẖīai hovai anand gẖaṇā.
In the month of Chayt, by meditating on the Lord of the Universe, a deep and profound joy arises.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਣਾ ॥
संत जना मिलि पाईऐ रसना नामु भणा ॥
Sanṯ janā mil pāīai rasnā nām bẖaṇā.
Meeting with the humble Saints, the Lord is found, as we chant His Name with our tongues.
ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਏ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਗਣਾ ॥
जिनि पाइआ प्रभु आपणा आए तिसहि गणा ॥
Jin pāiā parabẖ āpṇā āė ṯiseh gaṇā. Those who have found God-blessed is their coming into this world.
ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੀਵਣਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਜਣਾ ॥
इकु खिनु तिसु बिनु जीवणा बिरथा जनमु जणा ॥
Ik kẖin ṯis bin jīvṇā birthā janam jaṇā.
Those who live without Him, for even an instant-their lives are rendered useless.
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰਿਆ ਰਵਿਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਣਾ ॥
जलि थलि महीअलि पूरिआ रविआ विचि वणा ॥
Jal thal mahīal pūriā raviā vicẖ vaṇā.
The Lord is totally pervading the water, the land, and all space. He is contained in the forests as well.
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਕਿਤੜਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਗਣਾ ॥
सो प्रभु चिति न आवई कितड़ा दुखु गणा ॥
So parabẖ cẖiṯ na āvī kiṯṛā ḏukẖ gaṇā.
Those who do not remember God-how much pain must they suffer!
ਜਿਨੀ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤਿੰਨਾ ਭਾਗੁ ਮਣਾ ॥
जिनी राविआ सो प्रभू तिंना भागु मणा ॥
Jinī rāviā so parabẖū ṯinnā bẖāg maṇā.
Those who dwell upon their God have great good fortune.
ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੰਉ ਮਨੁ ਲੋਚਦਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਿਆਸ ਮਨਾ ॥
हरि दरसन कंउ मनु लोचदा नानक पिआस मना ॥
Har ḏarsan kaŉu man locẖḏā Nānak piās manā.
My mind yearns for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. O Nanak, my mind is so thirsty!
ਚੇਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਪਾਇ ਲਗਾ ॥੨॥
चेति मिलाए सो प्रभू तिस कै पाइ लगा ॥२॥
Cẖėṯ milāė so parabẖū ṯis kai pāė lagā. 2
I touch the feet of one who unites me with God in the month of Chayt. 2
ਵੈਸਾਖਿ ਧੀਰਨਿ ਕਿਉ ਵਾਢੀਆ ਜਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਿਛੋਹੁ ॥
वैसाखि धीरनि किउ वाढीआ जिना प्रेम बिछोहु ॥
vaisākẖ ḏẖīran kio vādẖīā jinā parėm bicẖẖohu.
In the month of Vaisaakh, how can the bride be patient? She is separated from her Beloved.
ਹਰਿ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਲਗੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਧੋਹੁ ॥
हरि साजनु पुरखु विसारि कै लगी माइआ धोहु ॥
Har sājan purakẖ visār kai lagī māiā ḏẖohu.
She has forgotten the Lord, her Life-companion, her Master; she has become attached to Maya, the deceitful one.
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਧਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਅਵਿਨਾਸੀ ਓਹੁ ॥
पुत्र कलत्र न संगि धना हरि अविनासी ओहु ॥
Puṯar kalṯar na sang ḏẖanā har avināsī oh.
Neither son, nor spouse, nor wealth shall go along with you-only the Eternal Lord.
ਪਲਚਿ ਪਲਚਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਮੁਈ ਝੂਠੈ ਧੰਧੈ ਮੋਹੁ ॥
पलचि पलचि सगली मुई झूठै धंधै मोहु ॥
Palacẖ palacẖ saglī muī jẖūṯẖai ḏẖanḏẖai moh.
Entangled and enmeshed in the love of false occupations, the whole world is perishing.
ਇਕਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਗੈ ਲਈਅਹਿ ਖੋਹਿ ॥
इकसु हरि के नाम बिनु अगै लईअहि खोहि ॥
Ikas har kė nām bin agai laīah kẖohi.
Without the Naam, the Name of the One Lord, they lose their lives in the hereafter.
ਦਯੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਵਿਗੁਚਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
दयु विसारि विगुचणा प्रभ बिनु अवरु न कोइ ॥
Ḏayu visār vigucẖṇā parabẖ bin avar na koė.
Forgetting the Merciful Lord, they are ruined. Without God, there is no other at all.
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਚਰਣੀ ਜੋ ਲਗੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਇ ॥
प्रीतम चरणी जो लगे तिन की निरमल सोइ ॥
Parīṯam cẖarṇī jo lagė ṯin kī nirmal soė.
Pure is the reputation of those who are attached to the Feet of the Beloved Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
नानक की प्रभ बेनती प्रभ मिलहु परापति होइ ॥
Nānak kī parabẖ bėnṯī parabẖ milhu parāpaṯ hoė.
Nanak makes this prayer to God: "Please, come and unite me with Yourself".
ਵੈਸਾਖੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਤਾਂ ਲਗੈ ਜਾ ਸੰਤੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥
वैसाखु सुहावा तां लगै जा संतु भेटै हरि सोइ ॥३॥
vaisākẖ suhāvā ṯāŉ lagai jā sanṯ bẖėtai har soė. 3
The month of Vaisaakh is beautiful and pleasant, when the Saint causes me to meet the Lord. 3
ਹਰਿ ਜੇਠਿ ਜੁੜੰਦਾ ਲੋੜੀਐ ਜਿਸੁ ਅਗੈ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਵੰਨਿ ॥
हरि जेठि जुड़ंदा लोड़ीऐ जिसु अगै सभि निवंनि ॥
Har jėṯẖ juṛanḏā loṛīai jis agai sabẖ nivann.
n the month of Jayt'h, the bride longs to meet with the Lord. All bow in humility before Him.
ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣ ਦਾਵਣਿ ਲਗਿਆ ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਦੇਈ ਬੰਨਿ ॥
हरि सजण दावणि लगिआ किसै न देई बंनि ॥
Har sajaṇ ḏāvaṇ lagiā kisai na ḏėī bann.
One who has grasped the hem of the robe of the Lord, the True Friend-no one can keep him in
bondage.
ਮਾਣਕ ਮੋਤੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਉਨ ਲਗੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੰਨਿ ॥
माणक मोती नामु प्रभ उन लगै नाही संनि ॥
Māṇak moṯī nām parabẖ un lagai nāhī sann.
God's Name is the Jewel, the Pearl. It cannot be stolen or taken away.
ਰੰਗ ਸਭੇ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੈ ਜੇਤੇ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੰਨਿ ॥
रंग सभे नाराइणै जेते मनि भावंनि ॥
Rang sabẖė nārāiṇai jėṯė man bẖāvann.
In the Lord are all pleasures which please the mind.
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਲੋੜੇ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਜੀਅ ਕਰੰਨਿ ॥
जो हरि लोड़े सो करे सोई जीअ करंनि ॥
Jo har loṛė so karė soī jīa karann.
As the Lord wishes, so He acts, and so His creatures act.
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਈ ਕਹੀਅਹਿ ਧੰਨਿ ॥
जो प्रभि कीते आपणे सेई कहीअहि धंनि ॥
Jo parabẖ kīṯė āpṇė sėī kahīahi ḏẖan.
They alone are called blessed, whom God has made His Own.
ਆਪਣ ਲੀਆ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਕਿਉ ਰੋਵੰਨਿ ॥
आपण लीआ जे मिलै विछुड़ि किउ रोवंनि ॥
Āpaṇ līā jė milai vicẖẖuṛ kio rovann.
If people could meet the Lord by their own efforts, why would they be crying out in the pain of separation?
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਰਾਪਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣੰਨਿ ॥
साधू संगु परापते नानक रंग माणंनि ॥
Sāḏẖū sang parāpaṯė Nānak rang māṇan.
Meeting Him in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, O Nanak, celestial bliss is enjoyed.
ਹਰਿ ਜੇਠੁ ਰੰਗੀਲਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਧਣੀ ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਭਾਗੁ ਮਥੰਨਿ ॥੪॥
हरि जेठु रंगीला तिसु धणी जिस कै भागु मथंनि ॥४॥
Har jėṯẖ rangīlā ṯis ḏẖaṇī jis kai bẖāg mathann. 4
In the month of Jayt'h, the playful Husband Lord meets her, upon whose forehead such good destiny is recorded. 4
